Congratulations to Peter and Nikki Mahony, Gyranda Santa Gertrudis Stud, for taking out the 2024  Eddie Hackman Steer Trophy, awarded to those Santa Gertrudis Australia members who finish the calendar year on the highest points for unled and led trade steer classes and equivalent carcase classes.

Stud principal Peter Mahony is pictured receiving the perpetual trophy from President Liz Allen after the Association’s AGM on Saturday at the Ekka.

It was the second big accolade for Gyranda inside two days, with the Theodore operation posting third in the 70-day HGP export class and second and third in the best weight gain class for a pen of six grainfed steers at the RNA’s Paddock to Palate competition on Thursday night, all achieved with straight bred Santa Gertrudis animals.
